We discovered our inspiration at the National Gallery of Art and share our creative response to the experience with Art, Empathy, and the Written Word. We use selections of artwork from famous and soon to famous artists as we observe, question, discuss, and respond with the spoken and the written word. We design class sessions with food pairings (sensory connections), quiet contemplation of four to five pieces of artwork, journaling or poetry writing, curriculum extensions, and group sharing. We engage our imaginations to ponder possibilities within and beyond the classroom walls. More
